What “Assistance” Do You Get In Assisted Living?

At The Laurel Senior Living, we offer both Independent Living, Assisted Living and an all-female Memory Care within our Community. As the names suggest, Independent Living is for seniors who want to live independently, while Assisted Living is for those who need assistance.

However, “assistance” is a very broad term. And if you are looking into Assisted Living as an option, you need to know whether it is the right match for your needs.

So what services are provided by Assisted Living? At The Laurel Senior Living in New Orleans, you can count on:

Help With Activities of Daily Living

Activities of Daily Living, or ADLs, are the routine daily tasks that every person must manage, such as getting out of bed, getting dressed, bathing, and grooming. When an individual requires assistance with ADLs, it is often an indicator that they may benefit from the support of Assisted Living. At The Laurel, we provide assistance with ADLs to our residents, who can request our help at any time.

Medication Management

When you have a lengthy list of medications that must be taken at specific times or under certain conditions, ensuring that you take them correctly is crucial for your health. In fact, medication errors are a significant cause of senior citizens' emergency room visits. To avoid expensive mistakes, we offer medication management services that assist our residents in adhering to their doctor's prescribed medication regiment.

Transportation

At The Laurel, we provide scheduled transportation services to residents for medical appointments, shopping, and other errands and outings.

Social Activities and Programs

At The Laurel, we offer a range of social activities and programs to keep our residents engaged and active. These may include exercise classes, arts and crafts, game nights, live music, outings, gardening, holiday events, guest speakers, happy hours, and so much more! No one ever has to be bored at The Laurel!

Personal Care Services

Both the 2nd and 3rd floors each have a salon with nail care, hair styling, and grooming services.

Housekeeping and Laundry

Many assisted living communities offer housekeeping and laundry services, including weekly housekeeping, linen service, and personal laundry service.
